Applied and Business

The Applied and Business Curriculum Area offers a wide range of courses for students in Key Stage 4 and 5. 

Courses cater for students who prefer to be assessed through coursework or external examinations or a combination of the two. 

Key Stage 4 

/GCSE/GCSE Equivalent

At Key Stage 4 we offer a range of GCSE / Level 2 subjects including Business; Cambridge National Enterprise and Marketing, and Health and Social Care.

Key Stage 5

A Level/A Level Equivalent

At Key Stage 5 there are a range of GCE courses on offer including; Business, Economics, Cambridge Technical Level 3 Business, Cambridge Technical Level 3 Health & Social care and Tourism.

The subjects within the Applied and Business curriculum area offer students the opportunity for independent research and to develop skills which are much sought after by employers.

Units covered:

  • Business activity, marketing and people (examination – 50%)
  • Operations, finance and influences on business (examination - 50%)

Cambridge National Enterprise and Marketing (Exam board: OCR)

Units covered:

  • Enterprise and Marketing Concepts (examination - 50%)
  • Design a business proposal (coursework 25%)
  • Market and pitch a business proposal (coursework 25%)

Cambridge National Health and Social Care (Exam board: OCR)

Units covered:

  • Communicating and working with individuals (examination 25%)
  • Using Basic First Aid Procedures (coursework 25%)
  • Essential Values of Care for Use With Individuals In Care Settings (examination 25%)
  • Understanding Life Stages (coursework 25%)
