Medication in School

The Misbourne has a Medicine Policy which has been developed in accordance with Buckinghamshire Local Authority guidelines for storage, collection and administration of medicines in school.  The aim of this policy is to ensure that the needs of students with medical conditions are met and to ensure that the support necessary is given.

Medication will only be administered in school under agreed circumstances by properly trained staff. No medicine will be administered without written parental consent.  All medicine to be dispensed should be brought into school in the original container, unopened with enclosed leaflet/instructions. On each occasion when a student needs to bring medicine into school, a separate letter from the parent with full details of the needs of the child will be required.  It is the policy of The Misbourne not to dispense non-prescription analgesics to students.  It is recommended that students do not keep medication on them, even paracetamol, during school time.  This is to avoid someone possibly taking something that is not suitable for them.
