Dehydration in Children

Water not only keeps children healthy it will also help them perform better in school.

Dehydration leads to a reduction in both mental and physical performance. This can affect results in the classroom! Long‐term chronic dehydration may cause health problems and illnesses.

Students should be encouraged to drink water regularly throughout the day and bring their own water bottles to school. Students should drink water after taking part in sports and gym.

Children need to consume more water than adults, in fact, the smaller you are, the more you need to drink. Children should therefore be encouraged to drink water even if they are not thirsty.  Headaches, irritability and tiredness are often signs of dehydration.

Please provide your children with water bottles to bring to school. There are taps in school where bottles can be refilled during the day
