Celebrating The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Success at The Misbourne

Posted on: 7 Nov 2019

Misbourne students from Years 10 and 11 received their Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards at a special ceremony held in school on the evening of Thursday 24 October.  The students gave presentations about their experience in relation to their chosen focus to a packed audience of proud family members and Misbourne staff.

More than 60 students took part in the programme this year and it was particularly pleasing to see an increase in the number of students gaining their Silver Award.

Headteacher, Jo Meloni presented the Awards and certificates, she said, “Giving a presentation to a room full of adults and peers would send many people running for the hills . . . but not our group of Duke of Edinburgh students.”

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Leader, Miss McCarthy commented, “We were delighted with the positive and proactive attitude of all the students who took part this year.  The presentations were about really important and topical subjects such as litter in the countryside, wildlife and other environmental issues.  Well done to everyone involved. “

Next year, The Misbourne will build on this success when it launches the Gold Award to current Year 11 and 12 students.
